GENERAL SUMMARY

The Mortgage Loan and Business Development Officer is responsible for soliciting, screening, originating, and coordinating the closing of residential mortgages. Home improvement loans, and home equity loans, in compliance with Bank lending policies, and industry regulations. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for developing marketing strategies that promote additional loan and deposit relationships for the bank. Incumbent should have or gain thorough knowledge of the mortgage lending process and be generally familiar with all other bank products. This position develops new relationships for the bank and will not continue as the primary officer for anything other than mortgage products. Officer is expected to be active in the communities that Ciera Bank serves. They must conduct themselves professionally when representing the bank. officer will coordinate and execute various marketing events for the bank. The officer will primarily be working outside of the office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(Majority of duties, but not meant to be all inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary)
Functional:
Proactively solicit new residential mortgage loan applications through networking, business development and referral sources.
Interview and counsel residential loan applicants in regard to the various lending programs and provide assistance to applicants in completing application materials.
Receives and reviews documentation for accuracy and prepares loan files for submission to a Loan Processor. Works with client and explains the alternatives to restructure the loan to satisfy lending guidelines for the particular loan program, if necessary.
Serves as the primary client contact during the application process through closing. Keeps client, attorneys and brokers updated as to status of loan.
Generates new business through marketing, networking and referrals.
Works with Regional President, or Branch President and Executive Management to develop and implement marketing plans.
Maintains working knowledge of loans, deposit products, and investment referral opportunities.
Solicit sales from new and existing clients through individual business development efforts and from referral sources.
Establish marketing initiatives with an emphasis on retail banking products.
Participates in Bank events and is involved with groups and organizations within the communities to increase the Bank’s visibility and promote new business.
Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
(Minimum education, experience, technical and communication skill levels and licenses/certificates normally required to perform the duties of this position.)
Baccalaureate degree or equivalent work experience
or
ten + years banking and/or sales experience.
Ability to initiate customer contact through email, telephone or personal contact.
Working knowledge of banking products/services.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Moderate computer skills with working knowledge of all lending systems and applications.
Demonstrated ability to explain all bank products and services in order to sell and cross-sell bank products and services and respond to customer inquiries.
Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential job functions of the position.
Must be able to travel to a variety of locations to perform work and/or attend meetings as required.
Advanced written, oral, interpersonal, and negotiating skills with ability to recognize and respond to sales opportunities and deliver persuasive sales presentations.

Internal
– Work is normally performed in climate-controlled office environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc.). Length of day is unpredictable; long hours may be required to accommodate peak periods, employee absences, staffing emergencies or customer schedules.
External
– Frequently work is performed where there is exposure to outside atmospheric conditions or heat/cold or moisture and exposure to traffic while performing sales-calls and other business development functions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work involves standing and walking for extended periods of time and potential eyestrain from reading detailed printouts and computer screen. Deadlines, disgruntled customers, workloads during peak periods and pressure to achieve goals may cause increased stress levels. Work may include occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds such as files, documents, and computer printouts. Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at a moderate skill level.

Internal
– Extensive contact with lenders and other personnel throughout the Bank regarding bank products, policy, approval, procedures, and regulatory issues.
External
– Extensive contact with customers to provide customer service and perform business development functions. Frequent contact with the general public through civic and professional organizations for business promotion and new business development.
