Believer Meats is a leading global cultivated meat company. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated upstream process engineer to join our Tech Transfer team. You will play a crucial role in transferring upstream processes (including media preparation, bioreactor cultivation, harvest, analytics, etc.) from Israel to new sites in the US. This will support various company goals including tech maturity (e.g. scale up and validation on commercial equipment), commercial manufacturing, and others.
- Train on our upstream process through close communication with our teams in Israel and Europe.
- Project management in collaboration with one or more external US sites where Believer needs to set up its upstream process
- Detailed planning of process flow, equipment and materials
- Authoring process documentation
- Execution of the process in new US site with local team (media preparation, cell cultivation, harvest, analytics)
- Writing and presenting reports on project status and individual runs/trials
- Frequent communication and coordination between Israel and US sites
Must-Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, biotechnology, or related field
- 4 years of experience in bioprocessing, including the following skills
-Bioreactor operation
-Aseptic cell culture
-Basic cell culture analytics (cell counting, bioanalyzer)
- Pumping/filling/filtering liquids up to 500L
- Project management experience
- Willingness to run processes hands-on, generally high level of independence
- Motivation to learn new skills and equipment
- Excellent communication skills
- Flexibility to travel to Israel and/or Europe
Nice to Have:
- Graduate degree in chemical engineering, biotechnology, or related field
- Advanced bioprocessing skills such as:
-Aseptic closed systems and assemblies (weldable/sealable)
-CIP/SIP on stainless steel equipment
-Cell separation systems such as continuous centrifugation, ATF/TFF
-Media mixing, media development or media formulation
- Knowledge of bioreactor engineering and scale-up principles, such as kLa, CFD modeling, PID control, etc.
- Experience setting up new labs or reproducing processes in new sites
Believer Meats is a leading global cultured meat company. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated engineer to join our Tech Transfer team. You will work with all elements of the upstream process, including media preparation and filtration, bioreactor cultivation, cell harvest, and others. Your role will be to take new technologies and processes coming out of the R&D department and get them ready for scale up and commercial production.
- Running new processes for testing purposes, primarily at pilot scale, including:
- Media preparation and filtration
- Inoculation/seed train
- Bioreactor cultivation
- Harvest
- Managing tech transfer projects to meet key company deadlines.
- Bringing technical problems to R&D for joint troubleshooting
- Commissioning and handing off working new processes to Operations
- Recording data from test runs, writing reports
- Project planning, procuring materials/equipment.
- First degree in chemical engineering, biotechnology, or related field
- 2-4 years of experience in bioprocessing, including the following skills
- Single use bioreactor operation and fundamentals (including troubleshooting)
- Aseptic cell culture
- ·Basic cell culture analytics (cell counting, bioanalyzer)
- Pumping/filling/filtering liquids up to 500L
- Willingness to run processes hands-on.
- Proven ability to manage projects and interface with multiple departments
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken
- Motivation to learn new skills and equipment.
- Flexibility to travel to Europe and/or the US.
- Second degree in chemical engineering, biotechnology, or related field
- Advanced bioprocessing skills such as:
- Aseptic closed systems and assemblies (weldable/sealable)
- CIP/SIP on stainless steel equipment
- Perfusion bioreactors
- Media mixing, media development or media formulation
- Knowledge of bioreactor engineering and scale up principles, such as kLa, CFD modeling, PID control, etc.
- Experience with bioprocess control and automation
- Experience setting up new labs or reproducing processes in new sites
