About you

About this role:
Udemy is searching for an Engineering Manager that embodies our core values: authenticity, a drive for continuous learning, being results-oriented, lean into experimentation, and embodying the spirit of being individually humble, yet collectively proud. We expect you to possess extensive knowledge relevant to your domain (i.e., software architecture, project management) and an impressive resolve to stay updated with industry trends and advancements. You should be proficient in React, GraphQL, Typescript, Eventing, Experimentation, and monitoring and observability with a working knowledge of Kotlin, GRPC, protobuf, and Kafka.
What you'll be doing:
- Working with your engineering team along with your cross-functional partners in product, design, data science, product marketing, and others to build a roadmap, deliver features, manage execution, and identify areas for development.
- Using skills like driving results, analytical problem solving, decision making, and active listening to effectively lead engineering teams.
- Demonstrated use of React, GraphQL, Typescript, Eventing, Experimentation, and monitoring and observability], bringing a depth of knowledge and experience to deliver high quality results.
- Applying Kotlin, GRPC, protobuf, and Kafka to ensure projects are delivered with quality and on time.
- Growing your team, their careers, and tracking their performance through 1-on-1s and annual reviews.
- Incorporate feedback from your team and managers to continuously improve your team’s execution and ability to achieve your team’s goals.
What you’ll have:
- Prior team lead or management experience.
- Demonstrated abilities in driving results, analytical problem solving, decision making, and active listening.
- Technical expertise in React, GraphQL, Typescript, Eventing, Experimentation, and monitoring and observability.
- Working knowledge of Kotlin, GRPC, protobuf, and Kafka.
