About the Team
Workday is a leading Enterprise Cloud Applications provider developing and deploying a wide range of business applications. The Runtime and Deploy (R&D) team is part of the OMS Dev Platform team that owns and handles the lifecycle of the Workday Metadata Platform, one of the key components at the core of the technology stack.
The R&D team mission is to scale the Runtime for Workday Developer Platform and power the next wave of customer growth and opportunity at Workday.
We do this by providing an XO language compilation/transpilation framework that supports transformation and optimization to execute applications under corresponding runtime.

About the Role
Manage a team of hardworking, dynamic and passionate software engineers, working with key architects, product managers and partner teams to deliver sophisticated software solutions.
Passion for software development and building a strong engineering team
Run and plan agile releases by understanding the details (effort, risk, priority, dependencies) of the planned features
Motivate the team with clear goals and direction to produce quality solutions on time
Collaborate with product management and technical architects to improve not just the product, but efficiencies in engineering processes
Build positive relationships with application and technology teams to drive collaboration toward effective solutions
Nurture the career development of the team by guiding the team’s experience and growth
Be a strong advocate for development processes, engineering standard methodologies, quality and culture of continuous improvement
About You
Experienced leader who has a consistent record of delivering enterprise class, critically important products. You have high change agility and adaptability. You know that things are constantly changing and evolving, and embrace those opportunities more than you resist them. Experienced in enterprise scale production rollout and support.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Strong technical knowledge in software development and Object Oriented compiler and runtime systems
- 5+ years leading a technical team and/or experience with managing software engineering teams
- 6+ years of experience with OO software design and development
- 5+ years of software development experience in with one or more of the following coding languages: Java, Kotlin, Scala, Python
- 2+ years’ of experience in managing Xpresso development team is a plus
Other Qualifications:
- Proven ability to balance multiple priorities and communicate across organizational boundaries
- Ability to build strong relationships with diverse teams within an organization.
- Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.
- A track record of finding ways to develop people and improve processes
- Demonstrated ability to build a strong diverse team of engineers and inspire them to do their best work
Workday Pay Transparency Statement
The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during the hiring process. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $142,400 USD - $213,600 USD
Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $135,300 USD - $254,400 USD
