Remote-first
Since March 2020, our Zoomers have worked remotely and reported an overall better work-life balance with more time for family and personal wellness.
At the end of 2021, LegalZoom made the official commitment to being a remote-first company. Remote-first means that there is no expectation that Zoomers come into an office for a fixed number of days outside of those employees identified as essential onsite workers. While we remain a remote-first culture, our local offices have evolved as collaboration spaces for Zoomers to meet and engage in person.
Overview
The Data Science and Engineering team at LegalZoom helps us make measurably better decisions, faster. We do this through everything from shaping our product strategy to running experiments that let us know how well our strategy is performing. In this role, you will work closely with the Partnerships business to help them make data-driven decisions. The goal is to help customers build successful businesses by identifying and delivering offers from LegalZoom partners. Whether that offer is a business license, insurance, or any of our other partner offerings, your work is critical to providing the customer the right option at the right time. You will move nimbly between 1st and 3rd-party data sources and provide insights to Partner Managers and partners.
You will work very closely with our colleagues in Engineering on everything from helping them build data-driven products to making sure that we are taking advantage of the latest advancements in data infrastructure (we are in the midst of migrating our data stack to the cloud).
Examples of questions you’ll tackle include how do customers discover and opt-in to our partner offers, how can targeting improve conversion rates, and what other products and partner placements we should launch.
You will
- Perform descriptive and predictive analyses to form hypotheses about how we can grow the business through better marketing spend and sales operations
- Influence LegalZoom leadership to pursue our hypotheses so that we better serve customers and grow our business
- Design and run experiments to test our hypotheses, including the definition of metrics that will enable us to understand customer behavior
- Interpret experiment results and use them to drive strategic and tactical recommendations for how to better reach our customers
- Provide insights at scale through building pipelines and dashboards that share the metrics you’ve created to provide us a more complete view of our customers
- Work closely with Marketing and Sales to help them better understand how to use data as well as form their own hypotheses so we can move faster
You have
- Be a key driver of marketing strategy, by thinking beyond immediate analysis to understand the long-term implications of actions
- Basic qualifications: M.S. or Bachelors degree in Math, Economics, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields
- (If M.S. degree, a minimum of 1+ years of industry experience required and if Bachelor's degree, a minimum of 2+ years of industry experience as a Data Scientist or equivalent)
- 5+ years of tech industry experience; subscriptions or logistics services preferred
- Advanced SQL expertise
- Basic understanding of experimental design (such as A/B experiments) and statistical methods
