Role Summary:
The Senior Aerospace Engineer will serve as a technical leader in the development and optimization of mechanical subsystems for our aerospace projects. This role demands an individual with a strong foundation in engineering fundamentals, experience in a range of manufacturing methods, and the ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Subsystem Design:
Lead the design of various mechanical subsystems using multiple manufacturing methods including machining, composites, welding, casting, injection molding, and stamping.
Validation and Testing:
Employ a balanced approach to hand calculations, simulation, and physical testing to validate designs.
Communication:
Articulate design and manufacturing strategies effectively to both technical and non-technical team members.
Task Management:
Track and prioritize assigned tasks to ensure timely hardware delivery.
3D CAD & 2D Schematics:
Work extensively with CAD tools to create production-ready hardware.
Bill of Materials (BOM) Management:
Manage your own BOM and oversee subsystem material selection.
Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration:
Engage with teams across engineering disciplines including powertrain, electronics, and materials to create cohesive systems.
Whatever Needs to Get Done:
Be agile and willing to assist in all areas of the development process to meet project milestones.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in aerospace or a related engineering field.
Strong foundation in engineering fundamentals including statics, thermal analysis, thermodynamics, fluids, powertrain, electronics, materials, and design.
Experience in 3D CAD design, preferably with tools like SolidWorks or CATIA.
Prior experience with airframes, aerospace propulsion, and airflow analysis is a strong plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Hands-on experience in a startup or defense sector environment.
Proven track record in leading multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
