Senior Manager, New Business Development & Market Research

PURPOSE -
Responsible for developing and managing new business development including new category and new business pipeline development process from market opportunity and idea generation to product concept and business validation.
Responsible for management of all market research and competitive intelligence for StarKist (base business research including syndicated data, new products, new categories, and new businesses and markets) to include planning, executing and communicating results.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES –
Manage the development and implementation of key new business development and new category innovation for StarKist; identify white space opportunities to drive new business, new markets, and new category innovation, ensure appropriate Stage Gate Process and market validation for new businesses and new product launches, ensure cross functional alignment to innovation strategy/launch plans
Handle full market research and competitive intelligence responsibilities for the Business Unit, creating and discussing the design with clients, envisioning possible research issues and solving them, gathering the information needed to answer business’s questions.
Provides proactive consultation with brand management via developing research plans and analysis on assigned businesses as well as provides all the answers to management’s questions regarding the consumer, market, etc.
Manages research resources and supplier contracts including ACNielsen, IRI, Mintel, and other syndicated and customer research data and oversees the dissemination of data and ad hoc projects.
Has final decision-making authority on research methodology and techniques, data sources, research design elements, questionnaire composition, data’s evaluation and supplier’s selection.
Has a large number of clients (e.g., leadership teams, marketing/brand managers and sales/trade marketing managers), and is day-to-day contact for all research activity associated with assigned businesses.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES -
7+ years of overall professional experience in new business development/innovation and consumer market research management
BS in Marketing/Market Research related degree, with an MBA degree preferred
Broad knowledge and experience in Market Research and New Product Innovation methodologies gained at successive levels of responsibility in multiple areas of consumer-packaged goods industry, ideally in Food & Beverage
Knowledge of corporate policies and compliance
Demonstrated prior success in achieving results using team driven philosophies
Demonstrated proficiency in supporting corporate interest from remote site locations and ability to communicate and exercise very positive people skills.
