Overview
Cloud Native Engineering focuses on establishing foundational capabilities with an emphasis on automation via resilient Infrastructure as Code (IaC) as well as containerized and managed Platform as a Service with hardened security posture. Cloud automation, containerized platforms and operational intelligence will help Navy Federal transform technology delivery with accelerated velocity while providing superior support to business applications.
Cloud Native Engineering team offers a guided path to assist Product teams to deploy, operate, and govern their workloads using Cloud resources and services. Cloud Native Engineering has 5 focus areas – Cloud Infrastructure as Code, Cloud Platform, Cloud Security, Cloud Threat Prevention, and Cloud SRE. The CNE team supports strategic, business, security, and internal initiatives.
The CNE team collaborates with various product teams, business units, CICD engineers, Developers, EAs, SAs and security engineers to plan, architect, automate and deploy workloads to the Navy Federal managed Virtual Private Cloud.
The Summer Associate will provide professional execution of day-to-day tasks and special projects while working within established CNE standards, policies, and procedures. The Summer Associate will help drive the CNE projects, cloud infrastructure provisioning activities and SRE tasks.
The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2024 and ending in August 2024. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2024 or later.
Responsibilities
Assist CNE Engineers with onboarding Agile product teams
Effectively collaborate with cross functional team on various CNE activities
Document various process and perform technical procedural write-ups
Participated in scrum meetings and must be able to adapt the change, with focus on value delivery with minimal day-to-day direction
Participate in implementation of solutions for Azure Cloud
Work closely with CNE engineers on the projects related to Cloud infra, platform, network, security and SRE
Support business strategy and initiatives within the business unit and/or across the organization
Assist and collaborate with various levels of staff to accomplish tasks/assignments
Perform research and analysis; may include quantitative and/or qualitative analysis
Maintain professionalism in all interactions, placing member service as priority
Provide comprehensive day-to-day operational support
Provide support in functional areas of the credit union
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other related degree
Familiarity with scripting/coding/automation development (PowerShell, Python, YAML)
Familiarity of Azure Cloud and Azure DevOps (ADO), or similar Cloud offerings
Knowledge of Microsoft suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and SharePoint with ability to create and manage sites
Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Kanban and SCRUM) is a plus
Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Effective research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Effective skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment to make sound decisions
Ability to adapt to new technologies
Effective organizational, planning, and time management skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report onsite 4-16 days each month.
