The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Platform Engineering to join our growing Platform Engineering organization. As the Sr Manager, Platform Engineering, you will lead and oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust solutions within platform, data, and engineering environments. Your primary focus will be ensuring our systems' scalability, reliability, integrity, and availability. The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive experience designing solutions within cloud-native environments. Excellent leadership and communication skills are required to collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor platform engineering professionals effectively.
How you will make a difference day to day
- Ensure platform and infrastructure capabilities can support the needs of a rapidly scaling business.
- Drive alignment on platform roadmap and priorities between engineering and peer teams in product management and design; this includes both strategic vision and tactical execution.
- Hire and scale a highly performant team focused on velocity, sustainability, and quality; recruit and retain top technical talent.
- Provide ongoing technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams.
- Optimize engineering processes between disparate groups; align teams around quality and documentation without compromising stability.
- Build strong cross-functional partnerships with engineers, product managers, designers, and other business stakeholders and demonstrate the ability to influence, resolve conflicts, and drive results.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of related experience: cloud infrastructure, platform development, software frameworks, and simulation frameworks or tools development
- 3+ years of leadership/experience managing highly technical teams
- Experience with cloud technologies, i.e. AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Experience and understanding of the structure and components that form modern distributed systems and tools, i.e. Kafka, Kubernetes, etc.
- Domain understanding in one or more of the following areas: enterprise SaaS, developer platforms, IoT.
- A strong background in leveraging infrastructure platforms and data components across a growing portfolio of products.
- Track record of leadership for highly scalable platforms within enterprise environments; ability to deliver high-volume applications with an eye for user experience.
- Able to work with ambiguity and drive clarity from proposals to implementation
- Proven track record of building strong, diverse, and capable technical teams, promoting collaborative culture, and supporting the career growth of teams
- Ability to empower people, instill accountability, and achieve results
- Clear history of owning and leading the delivery of projects, providing subject matter expertise in a functional domain and running engineering processes.
- Experience in building out infrastructure teams in a scaling, start-up environment
$220,000 - $275,000 a year
