About the role
As a Cognite Principal Refinery & Process Technical Consultant working within the Field Engineering Group, you are crucial in building strong and lasting relationships with our clients. You are the technical expert who engages in insightful conversations with our clients, understanding their unique challenges and uncovering opportunities for Cognite to deliver value. Your ability to speak the language of our clients, whether they are C-level stakeholders or engineers, is a key factor in your success.
As our Principal Technical Consultant, you will help clients understand and validate the capabilities of Cognite technology to deliver critical business value. This is accomplished by leading early discovery workshops that identify the business needs and industry readiness of Cognite clients. With clear opportunities to realize value identified, the Principal Refinery & Process Technical Consultant will explain and demonstrate how Cognite Data Fusion and Cognite Applications can solve the critical challenges leading to realizable value at scale. The role is an elegant combination of technical expertise, customer-facing capabilities, and business acumen, which requires an ability to provide expert guidance to account teams, improve existing demos, and tailor messaging to meet our customers' specific objectives. Members of the Principal Technical Consultant team should be competent in interactions ranging from C-level stakeholders to engineers and equipment operators.
Additionally, you will collaborate with end users and key stakeholders to conduct detailed problem-solving workshops and assist in evaluating RFIs/RFQs, ensuring the right fit for our products and crafting tailored responses.
Your Principal Refinery & Process Technical Consultant role extends beyond client engagement. You will collaborate cross-departmentally with the Cognite Service Delivery organization, staying up-to-date with their capabilities in solution delivery. Your insights will help shape the direction of Cognite Data Fusion, ensuring that our platform aligns with the common challenges our clients face.
At Cognite, we value strong partnerships, and you will play a crucial role in developing and supporting capable selling and delivery partners. Once partners complete core training, you will provide them with in-project enablement, coaching, and guidance, fostering a network of skilled professionals who share our vision.
The role requires regular travel to engage with our clients on-site for key workshops and activities during the sales and delivery phases of value realization.
Preferred skills and background
- Master’s/PhD degree in a relevant technical topic (Process, Mechanical, Automation, Maintenance, HSEQ, Planning, EPC projects …) and/or previous experience from a similar role
- Experience from Downstream and/or Process Industry [(Refineries - Separation, Conversion, Treatment, Planning, Utilities) //// (Process - Continuous, Batch Manufacturing for bulk, intermediate and speciality chemicals)] with proven understanding of the current challenges and opportunities digitalization can provide to solve them
- Master English with full professional proficiency
- Additional language full proficiency is regarded as a plus.
- Team player, used to work well in a cross functional team
- Experience of implementing Industry 4.0 projects and understanding of industry 4.0 technologies is desirable
Strong interest and experience in IOT technologies, Machine Learning and Digital Twins/ Data ModelingStrong proficiency and proven experience in demonstrating and leading technical validation programs for enterprise software salesAbility to lead requirements and value definition workshopsEnjoys the responsibility of being the domain expert and facilitating dialogue between a broad range of stakeholders
