GRAIL is seeking a Senior Front End Software Engineer to join our Commercial Applications Team, the crucial interface between GRAIL and the broader community. This role is located in Menlo Park, Ca. with a hybrid work environment.
In this vital role, you will be instrumental in improving our clinic and patient-facing applications, essential for the broad adoption of the innovative Galleri multi-cancer detection test. As a key individual contributor, you will significantly shape our front-end technical landscape, driving our products forward. This position presents a unique opportunity to engage with cutting-edge technology in early cancer detection, making a direct impact on patient care and outcomes.
Current Responsibilities
- Develop front-end applications and distributed systems that support GRAIL products, studies, and internal tools.
- Provide guidance on improving the user experience of our front-end applications through design and performance optimizations.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team to solve real-world problems that cannot be solved with software alone.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, UX, and Software Engineers to design, develop, and deliver compelling user-facing products.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of application architecture principles, policies, best practices, and standards.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of industry experience designing, developing, testing and maintaining software.
- Excellent knowledge of Javascript and Typescript, as well as one or more general-purpose programming languages (Go, Java, Python, or C++).
- Demonstrated experience with and track record of learning new programming languages and technologies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer science fundamentals and software engineering principles.
- Experience with web technologies (e.g., JavaScript, HTML, CSS), and web standards including HTML5 and CSS3.
- Familiarity with the whole web stack, including protocols and web server optimization techniques.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and the ability to adapt your message to the technical level of the audience.
- Ability to work well in a cross-functional team of engineers and scientists.
- Demonstrated leadership and self-direction, and a willingness to teach others and learn new techniques.
The estimated, full-time, annual base pay scale for this position is $155,000 - $175,000. Actual base pay will consider skills, experience, and location.
Based on the role, colleagues may be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan tied to company and individual performance, or an incentive plan. We also offer a long-term incentive plan to align company and colleague success over time.
