About the Role
Our Infrastructure team is at the heart of Nuro's operations, providing robust and scalable solutions to support our ambitious projects. As we expand, we are looking for an experienced Staff Software Engineer to partner with our Infrastructure team. This role involves hands on work with the development and maintenance of our core infrastructure, which includes network systems, hardware, and software resources essential for the functionality of our products and services. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping our technical strategies and ensuring the seamless integration of our infrastructure with various project needs.
About the Work
- Oversee the development and maintenance of our core technical infrastructure, including network systems, hardware, and software resources.
- Manage a sophisticated storage system that provides access to on-road logs crucial for machine learning and simulation processes.
- Orchestrate workloads in cloud clusters, focusing on optimizing cost efficiency and performance.
- Implement strategies to enhance engineering productivity, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely project delivery.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure development with company objectives and project requirements.
About You
- Domain Experience: Strong background in technical infrastructure management, including network systems, data centers, and cloud computing. Expertise in storage and compute platform management.
- Engineering Leadership: Proven ability in guiding technical teams and projects, with a clear vision for infrastructure development and optimization.
- People Management: Experience in mentoring engineers at various levels, fostering team growth and managing team dynamics.
- Technical Excellence: Deep understanding of infrastructure technologies and best practices, with proficiency in relevant programming languages and frameworks.
- You possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.

- Knowledge of storage, cloud computing, and virtualization technologies.
- Experience with system & framework design.
At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected pay range is between $183,825 and $275,975/year for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
