Guild Education, Inc. has an opening for a Staff Engineer, Software Engineering in Denver, Colorado.
Duties: Design, build, and own new services and infrastructure (primarily in AWS) utilizing primarily Typescript (NodeJS and React) and Python. Create code that is understandable, testable, and shared across teams and partners. Lead engineering efforts, share knowledge, and provide feedback within and across multiple teams and partners. Shepherd engineering initiatives within the Academic Pillar and collaborate with engineers across the broader engineering org (specifically at the Staff Engineer level and above). Deliver on time and be accountable to multiple teams and partners. Evaluate existing processes and procedures to identify areas that need optimization. Assess the efficiency of technologies, instruments, and equipment. Build, setup, and improve systems, procedures, and equipment. Collaborate with the engineering team on prototype development. Utilize software to perform efficient planning, designing, and development. Project the costs and timeframes of projects, as well as create work schedules and set deadlines. Perform quality control and resolve structural design and other issues throughout the implementation stages. Collect and interpret analytical and performance data, as well as prepare progress reports. Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Keep abreast of developments and innovation in the area of specialization and provide examples of how teams can make use of them. May telecommute pursuant to company policy. $236,901.08/per year
Requirements: Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Position requires 5 years of experience in the following: 1) Software architecture design; 2) Typescript (NodeJS and React); 3) Python; 4) Assessing the efficiency of technologies, instruments, and equipment: AWS (composed via CloudFormation, CDK and SAM), GraphQL, REST APIs, and Datadog; 5) AWS system design experience; 6) Data store experience (relational and no-sql); 7) Micro service design principles; 8) Mentoring more junior engineers; 9) Implementation of plans and suggested improvements to existing systems; 10) Identifying gap/improvements in systems and processes to enable vertical scaling.
