Platform Engineer
NICE is looking for a Platform Engineer. Candidates will work supporting large complex enterprise software clients including applications, network, Firewalls, servers, SQL and must have excellent problem-solving skills. As we expand our customer deployments, we are currently seeking an experienced Platform to deliver insights from massive scale data in real time. Specifically, we are searching for someone who brings fresh ideas, demonstrates a unique and informed viewpoint, and enjoys collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop real-world solutions and positive user experiences at every interaction.
Brief Description
The Platform Engineer works as an individual who to ability to oversee Cloud AWS infrastructure such as network, systems and DBs and our suite of applications via Infrastructure as Code (IAC). This includes providing senior-level escalation support for other groups and working to resolve production issues in conjunction with development, operational, and architectural resources.
Objectives of this Role:
- Overseeing network and system components of AWS infrastructure via Infrastructure as Code.
- Develop production environment monitoring for availability by taking a holistic view of system health and uptime of AWS infrastructure.
- Automate repetitive tasks using Powershell, Ansible, Python etc and reduce workload for Cloud Infrastructure organization.
- Build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications
- Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of Cloud Infrastructure
- Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve.
Responsibilities:
- Gather and analyze metrics from both network components, operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding
- Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures
- Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning
- Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts
- Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service level objectives
- Strategic thinker and capable of learning new technologies quickly. Understand the use to define and refine the monitoring requirements.
- Ability to work under high pressure and out of the box thinker
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 5-8 Years of experience in programming (structured and OO) with one or more high level languages, such as PowerShell, Shell/Bash, python/kickstart/puppet and Docker containers.
- 4-5 years of experience with layer 4/7 load balancers, , EC2s, Haproxy, tcpdump, DNS and DHCP.
- Work hand in hand with R&D, DevOps and support teams to improve process and ensure systems are always operational.
- 3+ years of working with , Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, GIT-based source control systems, preferably with GitHub
- Good understanding of code promotion techniques, build automation, branching strategies.
- 3+ years of working with Amazon AWS services, such as EC2, IAM, Dynamo, RDS, S3, EBS, CloudWatch, Lambda, API Gateway or Azure native services.
- A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks.
