About the job
This position is needed to lead a team of engineers within the Developer Platform group. You will help shape the culture of the team and the company by owning the front door of the platform, implemented using the open source developer portal Backstage.
Our Developer Platform Engineer teams focus on our ability to build and deploy at scale, to create best practices across our engineering organization for security, compliance, and enable our highly autonomous engineering teams to execute safely with the latest technologies.
If you are technically adept and also passionate about development of highly technical teams focused on high scale, large technology and infrastructure challenges, and engineering productivity, this is the role for you!
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Drive adoption of our internal platform by creating path-of-least-resistance workflows in Backstage.
- Act a product manager for a portion of the platform to drive adoption.
- Manage organizational change through metrics.
- Perform quarterly developer survey using DX, use survey-based insights to build roadmaps.
- Give engineers the tools, confidence, and motivation to make decisions autonomously that lead to their personal and professional success.

While having “desired” qualifications make for a strong candidate, we encourage applicants with alternative experiences to also apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!
Required:
- Experience managing a healthy and high-performing engineering team, both technically and as a people manager.

- Strong execution mindset with a vision to enable adoption of the platform
- Demonstrably effective communicator — in spoken and written forms.
