Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Education Services SRE to join our Platform Training team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our Education Lab systems, as well as providing technical support to our students, instructors and training partners. You will work closely with our education and engineering teams to ensure that our systems meet the needs of our users and are continuously improved. You will also be responsible for automation of Education Lab cloud environment, ensuring the scalability for setting up and tearing down of on lab environment for conducting multiple concurrent classes globally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our Education Lab systems
- Monitor and troubleshoot issues that arise while setting up and during ongoing lab training classes including identifying root causes and implementing long-term fixes
- Develop and maintain monitoring tools to detect and diagnose issues quickly
- Work closely with software engineers to ensure that our systems are reliable, scalable, and performant
- Collaborate with education team to understand the needs of students and instructors and ensure that the lab environment meets those needs
- Implement and maintain security best practices to ensure the safety of our systems and data
- Provide technical support to our students, instructors and training partners as needed
- Develop and maintain documentation of our systems and processes
- Continuously improve our systems to meet the evolving needs of our users
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5-10y years of experience in SRE roles or related field
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, and load balancing
- Experience with configuration management tools, such as Ansible or Puppet
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Azure or GCP
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools, such as Nagios or ELK
- Ability to program (structured and OOP) using one or more high-level languages, such as Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, and JavaScript
- Experience with distributed storage technologies such as NFS, HDFS, Ceph, and Amazon S3, as well as dynamic resource management frameworks (Apache Mesos, Kubernetes, Yarn)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
