As a Senior Android Platform Engineer, you will build outstanding payment experiences at GoDaddy Payments for merchants and customers on GoDaddy Smart Terminals. The team is focused on crafting and implementing solutions in the payments domain. And, their primary goal is to redefine how businesses and consumers engage with payments and our POS device and build trust and reliability in every payment interaction. As a key member of the PoyntOS team, you will modify the AOSP and develop Android system applications for our payment terminals. Take on the challenge of making what you build higher quality, faster, and more scalable. This position focuses on speed, reliability, and minimal effect on customers. You will have the opportunity to present your ideas, solutions, and out-of-the-box thinking!

- Collaborate with an outstanding background of engineering, product, and operations teams to deliver the best solution for our customers
- Actively participate in development life cycle activities like design, coding, testing, and production release. Product will be a closer partner as you craft great product experiences
- There's a specific focus on adding new capabilities and features to the POS device platform. Your work is expected to have a positive impact on both our businesses and customers, improving the overall payment experience
- Opportunity to work on very complex and challenging projects in an Agile software development environment using test-driven development methodologies, and participate in and promote architectural initiatives, balancing long-term velocity with short-term customer needs
- You'll be encouraged to think creatively, contribute to the development of groundbreaking solutions, and adapt to emerging trends in the payment industry
Your experience should include...
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- 3+ years of Android Platform experience
- Expertise in Android Open Source Project (AOSP) – Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL), System Services, memory management
- Familiar with Android builds and related tooling
- Experience in Android application development is a big plus (NDK/SDK)
- Firm understanding of Intents, Content Providers, Services, Broadcast Receivers, AsyncTask, Handlers, etc.
- Experience with object-oriented design and design patterns, multi-threaded development on Android platforms
- Experience with Bluetooth, NFC, Location and/or Accelerometer; other sensors
- Experience with Internationalisation and Localisation
You might also have...
- A Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field
- Experience using Git
- Knowledge of JSON and XML parsing, and/or DOM traversal
- Awareness of the Android UI/UX guidelines
- Creative problem-solving skills and ability to effectively communicate and translate feedback, needs, and solutions
