We are the Nextiva Communications Business Unit responsible for delivering mission-critical software that businesses can rely on to run their business and engage with their customers.
As the Director of Engineering for Client Experiences, you will play a pivotal role in building resilient, highly scalable, highly available and highly performant services that leverage state of the art technologies to deliver the next gen clients for customer engagement. We have a broad set of technology areas that encompass the entire footprint of Desktop, Web, and Mobile clients that our customers depend on. Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for technology, architecture, engineering, and operations for Nextiva’s Communication Client experiences: including Desktop, Web and Mobile
- Build and manage multiple full-stack execution units with engineering capabilities to run a world-class client development organization.
- Partner with peers in Product Management to drive hypothesis driven product development with agile development practices.
- Key is to understand hypothesis, build, succeed (or fail fast), learn, and iterate.
- Responsible to build trustworthy (secure, reliable, and compliant) and supportable (scalable, ease of debugging, extensible)
- Act as an active and dedicated coach, model our company values for the team, while creating an inclusive, fun, and supportive environment where every employee can be and do their best.
- Dig into technical details while managing the bigger picture of product delivery. Drive an engineering rhythm so that the team operates at a high level, knowledge is shared appropriately, and smooth execution is facilitated.
- Spend a part of your time being hands on with the architecture and code your team builds and ensure the right quality.
- Work with the leadership team to define success metrics and drive strategy initiatives and provide thought leadership.
- Be a keen representative of the Nextiva culture and leadership principles and have a positive impact on team morale and work environment.
- A desire to learn, a tendency to embrace challenges, persist in the face of adversity, see failures as essential to learning, find lessons and inspiration in the success of others.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of software engineering work experience, including hands-on technical management building holistic web-based software solution, API design, and interactions between servers and clients.
- 5+ years’ experience coding in one of the following languages: C++, JS, Java, Python and/or PHP
- Knowledge of real time Communication protocols like webRTC and/or SIP
- Work closely with our PM and design teams to define feature specifications and build the next generation of products leveraging frameworks such as React & React Native
- Full stack web/mobile application development with a variety of coding languages
- Be both highly technical and an effective people manager.
- Be a subject matter expert in a product domain.
- Lead teams that deliver on multiple projects of increasing dependencies in an ambiguous or high-impact area
- Work with your team and cross functional partners to define and influence strategy.
- Drive roadmap creation and execution
- Collaborate with various functions, drive engineering initiatives, and have an impact at an organizational level.
- Lead and participate in technical design.
- Measure the impact of your team and set clear expectations and goals.
- Work effectively with cross functional partners and stakeholders to set and achieve optimal outcomes.
- Partner with leadership to influence and drive org design, contribution, and prioritization.
